The truth about life as a medical student

I am one of the British Asian medical students today. And, although I wasn’t forced to attend medical school, I was pressurised, more or less from a young age. There was a large amount of encouragement to study medicine, with a lot of excitement surrounding this option, with much less given elsewhere.
When speaking to young 10 year old British Asians about what they want to do with their life, I often hear the same three words over and over…”lawyer, accountant or doctor”.

The british asian clubbing scene invasion

It’s obvious that clubbing among British Asians has recently soared, just check out Leicester Square or Birmingham Broad Street on a Friday night.
As a student, first year was all about hitting the clubs. Have a “session” of the strongest alcohol (and cheapest) at about 8, and from there, leave to hit the clubs at about 11, get more drunk, dance around like a nutcase, try to remember what just happened, then head out, get some food, and head home.

A bit of a down post, but as we have a medical student as one of our main editors, he insisted that we drone on about medical conditions.
Just to make you aware of a few of the obvious health conditions that British Asians are more at risk of developing.
People of South Asian origin are at risk of Type 2 Diabetes, particularly if it runs in the family.
